A Video You Gotta See!
Fri May 30, 2008 at 06:39:39 AM PDT
MSNBC has put together a very touching and very insightful mini documentary on multiculturalism in the United States. I think the video will be well worth your time. Given Obama's historic candidacy, I felt many here might be interested in seeing this video for some perspective on how Obama's personal history might have been shaped over the years.
My Goodness! Ohio Is Not Lost!! (Updated)
Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 12:10:35 PM PDT
I am writing this diary as a response to this diary and to support this diary by offering some on-the-ground perspectives from Ohio.
Polls are all over the place. Some have Obama up, some have him down, some show them tied, some show Hillary slightly up, some Obama slightly up. Come on people! There is nothing in any of these polls that even remotely hints that Obama is going to lose Ohio. If anything, this is very good news, especially if we take Obama's comeback victories of the near past into account.
Flip over for my perspective from Cuyahoga county...
Countdown to Cleveland Debate - LIVE Blog
Tue Feb 26, 2008 at 11:40:14 AM PDT
I'm counting the minutes down to tonight's debate. Obviously, the stakes are very high for Hillary. I am with Tim Russert who yesterday wondered aloud which Hillary will show up in Cleveland tonight: The "I'll be fine" Hilary or the "Shame on you" Hillary.
My take: The feisty, screaming Hillary will show up in tonight's debate.
I hope I'm wrong but I think it's unreasonable to expect that Hillary will go out with grace and dignity. Her feels that she is owed this nomination. She feels entitled to it, hence the inevitable argument from way back. If she can't have it, then damn anyone that gets it. Again, I hope I'm wrong on this but I expect some fireworks from her tonight.

Feeling Irrelevant in Ohio!
Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 06:45:19 AM PDT
I did something this morning that added me to the growing ranks of Democrats who have been deemed irrelevant by the Clinton campaign.
I voted for Barack Obama in Ohio today.
Here's how it happened...
Why Obama Will Win!
Thu Jan 31, 2008 at 08:47:06 PM PDT
By win, I am not only referring to the Democratic nomination but to the Presidency as well.
Barack Obama will be our next President due to many admirable reasons. But the biggest reason why he will defeat Hillary and go ahead to win it all in November can be summed up in one word...
I Regret Defending Hillary
Tue Jan 29, 2008 at 06:26:25 AM PDT
How times change!!!
A few months ago I wrote this diary in which I defended Hillary against what I perceived were unfair attacks on her and her candidacy on DKos. Back then, I actually believed she was not only the inevitable nominee but invincible as well.
Then Obama happened...
Calling All Hillary Haters! - Updated w/ Poll
Mon Oct 08, 2007 at 01:30:47 PM PDT
Disclaimer: I currently support and will be voting for John Edwards.
I haven't written a diary for ever because of grad school but now I feel I need to finally speak up about the current anti-Hillary sentiment on DKos that seems to have reached a fever pitch lately. This diary is not going to be fanciful; I am not going to bore you with cute hyperlinks, block quotes, pretty pictures or screen shots or youtube links or any of that. I just wish to throw in my 2 cents with regard to Hillary and her inevitable nomination. More on the other side...
My 2008 Dem "Dream" Ticket
Tue Nov 21, 2006 at 07:48:53 AM PDT
Okay, you have heard all the names that have been bandied about here on Dkos: Clark/Edwards, Gore/Obama, Vilsak/?, Billary/? etc. etc. etc. for 2008.
Boooring!!!
I say it's time to shake up the Dem presidential ticket. It's time to nominate a new kind of Dem; Popular Dems with real people power and charisma and appeal. Wanna know who? Come along...
I Just Voted in Ohio
Sat Oct 21, 2006 at 06:05:44 PM PDT
I just did it. I voted today. My absentee ballot came yesterday in the mail and I voted first thing today. This is not the first time I have voted absentee, but this one has special meaning for me because my vote will be one of thousands that will help turn Ohio blue by close of election day on November 7.
Will Hackett Run as an Independent?
Wed Feb 15, 2006 at 10:41:37 AM PDT
I received an email from a newly-formed group called HackPAC which is trying to draft Paul Hackett to run against DeWine, this time as an Independent. I don't know much about this group yet, but one thing is for sure: There is a lot of anger over the way Dem leaders in Washington colluded to screw Paul Hackett. Flip over...
Paul Hackett LIVE @ 9 am ET - Web Stream
Wed Jan 25, 2006 at 05:39:04 AM PDT
For those who have yet to hear Paul Hackett speak, this is your chance. He will be on Cleveland's local NPR station WCPN 90.3 this morning at 9 am ET. You can listen to a
live feed of the broadcast here:
http://publicbroadcasting.net/...
BTW, I don't work for Hackett or for anybody. I just happen to really admire him and his politics and I sure hope he prevails against Sherrod Brown (whom I admire as well, just not as much as I do Hackett) in May and goes on to beat the hell out of DeWine in November. If you like Hackett, consider recommending this diary so others can see it before it falls off.
And The Barbarism Continues...
Tue Dec 13, 2005 at 05:48:50 AM PDT
This is a silent diary dedicated to ending the barbaric practice of capital punishment in the most "advanced" country in the world.
After Fitzmas Comes Terror Alert!
Thu Oct 27, 2005 at 05:52:19 AM PDT
I'm sorry to burst your Fitzmas bubble, but expect a brand new terror alert right after those indictments are handed down. "Enemies" of America will emerge from the deep shadows of the underground, and "specific threats" will be uncovered. Shadowy figures will use baby carriers as weapons to try to kill us all. Be afraid! Be very afraid! Sound familiar? Wait for it!
Is It Time for Dems To Lay Low on Abortion?
Wed Oct 19, 2005 at 06:53:04 AM PDT
Now that Bush's October surprise has been revealed, we know that Miers, if confirmed, will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. I think it's time for Dems to sit down, take a deep breath, and think deeply about what abortion has done and will do for our chances in winning back the White House and Congress in the coming years. Clearly, the recent revelations about Miers and her Anti-Abortion stance means that abortion may well shape up to be the Republican wedge issue for the next election cycle. How should Dems respond? How do we keep from getting burned at the polls again due to a single issue? Flip...
Divine Secrets of the dubYA-dubYA Sisterhood!
Thu Oct 06, 2005 at 06:50:07 PM PDT
Did you miss Countdown with Keith Olbermann Thursday night? Sorry, you missed a good laugh! The topic was Bush's ever-growing Harem of female "loyalists" (for lack of a better term). Bush's Harem is becoming more interesting, and includes, among others, Russian experts and former librarians.
I want to know: Who in the dubYA-dubYA Sisterhood is your favorite Bush girl? Flip over, cast your vote in the poll, then leave a comment explaining your vote!

This is a good chance to volunteer for RON and make sure all four issues pass in November. Remember, RON is still under brutal attack from right-wing conservatives who have vowed to make defeating RON their sole issue for the coming elections. We need to stand up to them once more!

Clark / Edwards 2008: A Sure Ticket!
Thu Sep 29, 2005 at 07:14:59 AM PDT
Yes, I know: It's way too early to talk about the Democratic nomination for 2008. But in light of recent happenings in our country, we Dems will be well served to start planning to win elections early. The Republicans have been doing it for decades now, apparently with much success.
Clearly, Katrina has blown the cover off the disease of poverty that has been afflicting our country. Poverty has been well hideden from most Americans, and from the rest of the world, because the Republicans want it that way. Under Bush, poverty has steadily increased, and W. could care less about it. After all, his "base" have yachts and million-dollar homes to buy.
This brings up the issue of John Edwards. Edwards has been emphasizing poverty throughout his campaign, and there is no denying that his political stock has been rising tremendously since Katrina exposed American poverty. He has been right all along: There are two Americas! The "better half" has finally gotten the opportunity to see the "other half."
Bye-bye, 'Brownie'
Thu Sep 08, 2005 at 11:01:17 AM PDT
Just days after the Times Picayune wrote an open letter to the chimpanzee who resides in the White House (apologies to all intelligent chimps!), more newspapers are following their lead with some good advise for Dear Leader. The Cleveland Plain Dealer has an Editorial in today's issue calling on the president to fire Brownie. Flip over to read it (it's short).
